A weapon exchange among ruined stone buildings

Seven Stars Sword Formation

Break down the coordinated first phase and crimson-thread String Puppet phase shown in the official Year of the Snake gameplay sequence.

Seven Stars is the multi-opponent encounter at the center of Phantom Blade Zero’s 2025 Year of the Snake demonstration. S-GAME calls it the Seven Stars Sword Formation and describes seven swordsmen who move as one. The surviving disciples later manipulate their leader on crimson threads in a String Puppet phase, replacing disciplined formation pressure with unstable aerial movement.

Phase one: coordinated formation

Seven fighters create two simultaneous reading problems: the strike in front of Soul and the formation around him. Official copy says the group alternates between coordinated assaults and individual strikes. A safe response must therefore avoid ending where the next swordsman can immediately continue the sequence.

Watch the spacing between disciples as carefully as the lead blade. A widening gap may create an exit lane; a tightening ring may make a long offensive string dangerous. Short confirms and deliberate camera control are more reliable than chasing one target while the others leave frame.

02

Phase two: String Puppet

The second phase suspends the surviving leader on crimson threads controlled by the disciples. His movement becomes erratic and difficult to anticipate. The visual change is also a mechanical warning: rhythm learned from grounded swordsmen no longer describes the source or path of the next attack.

Reset observation at the transition. Identify where the puppet’s momentum ends, whether attacks originate from the body or the controllers and which recovery creates a real opening. Preserve a flexible slot until the aerial pattern is readable.

Lessons that transfer to launch

The encounter demonstrates S-GAME’s emphasis on choreography as gameplay information. Formation, body posture, thread tension and movement origin all communicate danger. It also shows why reactive defense cannot be reduced to one timing chart.

The final release may adjust timings and balance, but three principles remain sound: protect the camera angle, reevaluate after a phase change and choose the weapon role that matches the current space.
