Rain-dark ruins and traditional buildings in the Phantom World

Pang Town

Pang Town is a rain-drenched key location rebuilt from the earlier Rainblood map using scans of ancient Chinese towns.

Pang Town—called Pangzhen Township in the official “Return to Pangzhen” feature—is a key Phantom Blade Zero location with roots in Rainblood. S-GAME says the original hand-drawn town marked the beginning of the property fifteen years earlier. The new version uses high-precision three-dimensional models based on scans of multiple ancient Chinese towns.

From Rainblood to the Phantom World

In the earlier Rainblood story, Soul entered a town covered by conspiracy and began a wuxia tale. S-GAME returned to that location for Phantom Blade Zero rather than treating the new game as visually disconnected. The result preserves rain, danger and intrigue while expanding the scale and physical detail.

This lineage gives the town symbolic weight. It is a place where the property can compare its hand-drawn origin with its current cinematic action language without requiring players to have studied the earlier game.

Scanned towns, rain and ray tracing

The modern environment combines scans of several ancient Chinese towns with NVIDIA ray tracing and DLSS 4. Wet surfaces, dense rooflines and narrow passages give the lighting technology a clear material purpose: rain changes how stone, wood and metal reveal the route.

The creative director later emphasized that the team also wants the game’s improved scenes to retain most of their impact without ray tracing. Pang Town should therefore be read as a designed place first and a technology showcase second.
